Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Testing

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition with a wide range of presentations, often requiring an expert eye to properly identify. At Katy Psychological Services, we provide comprehensive evaluations for ASD across all three diagnostic levels as defined in the DSM-5-TR.

Learning Disabilities: Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia

Learning disorders are often misunderstood, but they can significantly impact a child’s academic performance and self-esteem. We evaluate for:

  • Dyslexia: More than letter reversals—difficulties with phonemic awareness, blending, sight word retention, and reading comprehension.

  • Dysgraphia: Challenges with writing mechanics, inconsistent spelling, poor handwriting, and frustration with written tasks.

  • Dyscalculia: Difficulties with number sense, basic math facts, and solving word problems.

Our process includes:

  • A comprehensive intake interview

  • Input from teachers and academic records

  • Standardized assessments to compare performance to national norms

Results guide meaningful interventions and can support IEPs or 504 Plans.

Pricing:  Pricing starts at $1875 and includes a full cognitive assessment (investigating areas important for learning such as working memory, processing speed, problem-solving) and areas of achievement (reading, writing, and/or math).  We get a detailed developmental history from parents, input from teachers including the child's approach to academic tasks and level of support that is needed, grades, and also input from the child.  Includes a comprehensive written report, personalized recommendations, and a one-hour feedback to go over results.  Please note that if there are additional factors such as anxiety, ADHD, executive functioning deficits, social communication issues, then more testing may be needed than what is covered in our psychoeducational assessment and options will be presented to you at the initial appointment.

Level 2 ASD:

Includes more pronounced communication and social challenges, repetitive behaviors, and difficulty understanding non-verbal cues. These individuals often benefit from specific social skills instruction and academic accommodations.

Level 3 ASD:

Involves significant language deficits, possibly nonverbal communication, and greater support needs across home and school environments. These individuals may benefit from services like ABA and specialized programming.

Our evaluations use gold-standard tools, including the ADOS-2, in-depth clinical interviews, input from teachers (if applicable), and observational data to make accurate and meaningful diagnoses.

Level 1 ASD:

Individuals may be highly verbal with average or above-average intelligence, yet struggle with social cues, sensory sensitivities, and narrow interests. These symptoms are sometimes subtle and may be missed by others.

Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Evaluations

ADHD is a neurological condition that can affect children and adults in different ways. We assess for:

  • ADHD, Inattentive Type (formerly “ADD”): Daydreaming, forgetfulness, trouble finishing tasks

  • ADHD, Hyperactive-Impulsive Type: Restlessness, impulsivity, excessive movement

  • ADHD, Combined Type: A blend of both inattentive and hyperactive symptoms

Many individuals go undiagnosed into adulthood, especially those with mild symptoms. If attention difficulties are interfering with daily functioning, a formal evaluation can help clarify diagnosis and guide next steps.

Our ADHD Testing Includes:

  • In-depth clinical interview

  • Computerized attention testing (CPT)

  • Rating scales from parents, teachers, or partners

  • Evaluation of executive functioning

  • Full written report with personalized recommendations

  • One-hour feedback session with a licensed psychologist

We evaluate ADHD in ages 4 through adulthood.
