Psychological Evaluations are completed by Licensed Psychologists. At Katy Psychological Services, PLLC, we conduct testing for children, adolescents, and adults. (It is important that we note we have specific training and expertise in working with and treating children, and we hope that you make sure you select someone who has this background).
A psychological evaluation usually helps to provide a specific diagnosis that helps to better explain how to treat the symptoms. In some cases, there is more than one diagnosis or some symptoms may seem like one disorder, but may actually be something different.
Are evaluations needed? No, not always. If you are feeling depressed and down and want a professional who knows about your symptoms and how to treat them, then you may not need an evaluation. You can schedule an initial meeting with one of our therapists and together you will work on treatment goals for therapy and discuss how often you will meet. If you have multiple symptoms, or a family history of several disorders, or you aren't sure what you need, we can help to determine this once we have our initial meeting together.
What can I expect from a Psychological Evaluation? A diagnosis (or diagnoses) with a full detailed report explaining the results. We will always offer specific recommendations on what steps to take next based on your individual needs. All of our evaluation prices include a one-hour feedback session to discuss these results with you and answer any questions you have regarding the outcome.
Are Psychological Evaluations covered by insurance? Usually yes. Since we do not take insurance, any testing we conduct will be paid by you out of pocket. We can provide you with a detailed medical receipt (with CPT codes) to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement with an "out of network" provider. We don't guarantee any reimbursement, but we can help you with the information to file a claim for any benefits for which you may be eligible. Contact your provider if you want to know if, and what amount, you can be reimbursed.
